چکیده

The polarization of laser light backscattered from biological samples has been measured over the wavelength range 350 to 850nm. Incident circular, linearly polarized, and unpolarized light produces significant spectral features in the case of samples containing chlorophyll such as leaves and cyanobacteria. Polarization scattering signatures are observed around the chlorophyll ‘red edge’ that may have diagnostic value in the search for life signatures from extrasolar planets.

Towards Measurement of Polarization Properties of Skin using the Ellipsometry Technique

Introduction: The human skin is an active medium from the optical point of view. Therefore, the diagnostic and therapeutic techniques employing light are increasing. Current optical techniques are based on the measurement of the intensity of reflected absorbed or backscattered light from or within skin. Studies have shown that biological tissues, and in particular skin, demonstrate polarization...

پراکندگی نوترینوی میونی از روی الکترون قطبیده به الکترون و نوترینو در فضا- زمان ناجابه‌جایی

For neutrino scattering from polarized electron, the weak interaction term in the cross section is significantly suppressed by the polarized term. The magnetic moment term does not receive any correction from the electron polarization. Hence, the study of the magnetic moment of neutrinos through scattering from the polarized electron leads to a stronger bound on the neutrino magnetic moment com...

Generation and Evolution of Spin-, Valley-, and Layer-Polarized Excited Carriers in Inversion-Symmetric WSe_{2}.

We report the spin-selective optical excitation of carriers in inversion-symmetric bulk samples of the transition metal dichalcogenide (TMDC) WSe_{2}. Employing time- and angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy (trARPES) and complementary time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT), we observe spin-, valley-, and layer-polarized excited state populations upon excitation with circularly p...

Polarization Sensitive Optical Imaging and Characterization of Soybean Using Stokes- Mueller Matrix Model

Light polarimetry is a useful tool by which to analyze the modification in the shape and orientation of the field vectors of the electromagnetic radiation which propagates through scattering medium. Among the methods available to analyze turbid media, the use of polarized light has attracted much attention recently, as it has been discovered that multiply scattered photons still maintain partia...

Volume Integral Equations for Scattering from Anisotropic Diffraction Gratings

We analyze electromagnetic scattering of TM polarized waves from a diffraction grating consisting of a periodic, anisotropic, and possibly negative-index dielectric material. Such scattering problems are important for the modelization of, e.g., light propagation in nano-optical components and metamaterials. The periodic scattering problem can be reformulated as a strongly singular volume integr...
